Jenene had a surprise baby shower a few weeks ago that her friends Denise Lisa and Deena threw for her with just her close friends and family. Jenene originally did not want one but I think people thought with twins coming, it would be a great help. We got some wonderful gifts that are really going to help out when these kids do come.
We are pretty much set on names I think as we know Shea will be the girl and believe the boy is going to be Cooper. There are a number of people though that do not like Cooper. Namely Jenene's Mom and my Mom. I think we are going with it anyway.
Jenene is really starting to get uncomfortable now as she gets bigger. It is so hard to sleep because she is constantly tossing and turning to get comfortable. I ain't complaining though because I don't want her to kill me.
You can really see and feel the kids kicking around too in there. She says they are going constantly. they must already be beating up on one another.
We went to the doctor the last time a few weeks ago and everything was good. Jenene was a little nervous because she didn't feel the one baby as much as the other and so they scheduled a ultrasound the next day for her. Everything was fine and dandy and they were both as active as ever. On her next trip she has to drink this gross drink to check her for gestational diabetes. I feel bad because this stuff is nasty. Hopefully though she'll be clear of that. Then I think she starts going every two or three weeks. Amazing how fast this is going!

Split
We went for the ultrasound and the answer is ............................one boy and one girl! It is amazing! If we could hope for anything, that's what it would be. I was thinking two girls and Jenene was thinking two boys. So I told the technician we wanted to know but not to blurt it out. So she said she knew and I asked her if one of us was right. She said "Nope, neither of you are" It was awesome. We literally could not believe it. It seems like everyone is really psyched about it too. We have the girls name which is Shea but we are not sure about the boys name. We thought about Cooper but nobody seems to like that. So we are taking suggestions and stuff like that but are still very open. We have some time and right now our biggest concern is the house and getting room for these kids. Other than that, the kids are measuring about 13 ounces which is good and Shea looks like she is going to be coming out first. Jenene is getting big and starting to get uncomfortable now too. It stinks that she can't really lay and be comfy. also Tyler is all over he place which is wearing her out. Well we're getting there. I'll update with our next appointment.

Big Day
Today is the type of day that I started this blog for. I want to be able to look back with the kids when they get older and have them be able to see what we were thinking and what we were doing when they weren't even born yet. Today we find out what sexes the kids will be! For Tyler, we waited and never found out but for these two, we need to at least be somewhat prepared for what we are having. We haven't told anyone that today is the day because we didn't want to get a hundred phone calls today about it. Chances are though that once one person finds out, word is going to spread like wildfire and we'll get all the calls anyway. I've heard everyones ideas for what Jenene might be having and today we find out for sure. I have always said two girls but Jenene thinks because of the way her pregnancy is going the same as with Tyler that it is two boys. We have names we think for the girls but are having some trouble with coming up with boys names. We;ll see in a bit if we even have to worry about it. It's weird, I thought I would be a lot more nervous or think about it alot more. I guess because my main concern is just that they are healthy and whatever they are doesn't matter as long as we have that.

We have a date now for when we will find out the sexes of the babies but Jenene is being real secretive about when it is. I'm surprised I'm allowed to know. She just doesn't want everyone calling and emailing her around that time trying to get more information. Also, her parents are going to be away so she wnts to make sure she has a chance to speak with them before others know. It has been amazing how much more she is feeling the past two days. She can really feel them starting to move now. She emailed me before that they are moving all over. I think she is 18 weeks this week so it is only going to get worse. Jenene is really showing now but not much more than she was at this time for Tyler. I imagine the next month or so she is really going tmo grow.

Checkup Time
We had our next checkup this past Friday and everything was progressing well for Jenene and the babies. We were able to hear the heartbeats again and all her numbers were normal. The next thing we have is the 20 week ultrasound coming up in about three weeks. During this we will find out what we are having. Pretty exciting stuff. It is odd for us because with Tyler we never found out. We thought though with these two we are going to have to at least be prepared somewhat. We must have gotten 10 calls on Friday because people thought we were going to find out what they were then. I had to disappoint them all and tell them they have to wait another few weeks. Jenene has been feeling good and the headaches seem to have subsided a bit. Hopefully the rest of the pregnancy goes this smoothly.

We finally got the results back on the Nucal Translucency test we did and everything was normal. We got to go to the hospital and they did a very thorough ultrasound and some bloodwork on Jenene and they are able to determine with about 95% accuracy the risk the kids are at for Down Syndrome. This was a big relief and another hurdle i felt like we cleared. It was so awesome to see them in there and moving around and stuff. I had kind of forgotten from when Tyler was in there the feeling that you get seeing the baby move around and stuff. Now I get to see it with two of them. We are in full panic mode by the way. The house is on the market, we have to find a new car, get a new crib etc. Everyone keeps saying "It will work out". But my questions is "How?" It doesn't just happen out of the blue. I am sure everything will be fine and I just try and focus on the wonderful family we will have when this is all said and done.

The Cat is officially Out of the Bag

We went for our doctor's appointment the other day and were able to see both babies and see both heartbeats as well. They were both beautiful and doing very well. So Jenene and I decided we should begin telling everyone. This is the most fun part about the whole thing. Jenene bought a shirt for Tyler that says "I have a secret" on the front and "I am going to be the big brother of twins" on the back. We put it on him and made the rounds to a few of my brothers and sisters. It is so fun seeing people finally seeing the shirt after it not registering for a while and then their reaction. they don't know if it's a joke or what. My nephew Jay had the reward for seeing it quickest. I think my sister inlaw Ann had the biggest reaction by her loud screams. I think my parents took the longest to see the shirt. I enjoy telling people too that Jenene is pregnant because for the most part they say "I knew it! I just had a feeling" Then I hit them with the fact that it's twins and it takes the reaction to a whole new level. It took a huge wait off my mother as well because she has been chomping at the bit to tell someone and now she finally can.
We feel a whole lot better now that we saw them and everything was good. We go tomorrow for the Nucleal trans lucencey test. It is a test for Down Syndrome so it is another hurdle to clear. Hopefully that will go well and we can enjoy this time with our family and friends. I am in the process of telling my friends now and will hit most of them tomorrow at our Fantasy Football draft.

Waiting Game
The first post I put in here I actually made a few weeks ago but didn't link the blog properly so I had to start over.
Jenene and I went to the doctor last week but because she was only 9 weeks along, they would not be able to hear the babies on the Doppler. They had nobody there to do an ultrasound so we have to wait until next week. We decided not to tell anyone about this until we are able to hear them again. we want to make sure everything is ok. Next week she will be 12 weeks too. Our Mothers are both about to burst at the seams and I am pretty excited to tell our family and friends as well. But reality is starting to set in as far as Jenene not being able to work after this and having to find a bigger home. We did put ours back on the market last week and hopefully we can sell it this time! Last time it was on for a year and went nowhere.
Jenene has been feeling pretty good and has just been very tired. She did almost get sick once but that was really it. Let's hope it stays that way throughout.
So the next post I will make will be next week and hopefully we will be off and running then.

The Beginning Shock
My wife and I Jenene have a beautiful son Tyler who has been the light of our world and with whom we've had a great time so far. He is 18 months old and is so much fun. We were able to have him through going to a specialist that fertilized Jenene since we were having trouble on our own. About 6 months ago, Jenene and I decided to try again and that it was time for #2. We spent a few months trying but then decided to go back to the specialist since it worked so well last time. We went back and were given a good chance to be successful again. We went through what we needed to and Jenene could not wait the whole time and took a pregnancy test on her own. So when we got the call that she was pregnant, it wasn't a surprise. What followed was. They give you your hormone levels when they call with the news and Jenene commented that the numbers seemed high. I thought it was in the same ballpark as the last time but told her to call her nurse and ask about it. The nurse left a message in return and you could only imagine my shock when she said "The number is high, but that just means there is probably more than one in there". Sure enough, Jenene went for her ultrasound and there are two. This puts a whole new spin on things and now we vault right over the two child family to a three child family! Mind you, we currently live in a two bedroom home and Jenene still works. So we need to buy a bigger house and have Jenene stop working in the next 9 months. We tried to sell our house and had it on the market for 1 year with no offers a year back! Our parents just keep telling us everything will work out and that we just need to keep praying. It gets awfully frustrating because things don't "just work out"Anyway, I am starting this blog because I have an ongoing one for Tyler that Jenene has really enjoyed and I think Tyler will really enjoy reading when he gets older. I think this one should be very interesting too to look back on once these two little persons come along. So if you are reading this, come along for the ride!
